Exploring Castles & Nature Walks

One of the fascinating ways of getting to know Catalan history is through exploring the ancient castles. This region went through many wars, and many castles were built there, some of them dating back to the 11th Century. Some of these castles are better preserved than others. The amazingly well preserved castle of Requesens is situated in the National Park of the L’Alberra Mountains, not far from the French border. The castle was built in the 11th Century by the Counts of Rossillon and then passed through several hands, sometimes changing its name. It was also renovated several times during the past centuries.

The castle is not open to the public, but Kokopeli Adventure was priviledged to be granted permission to take visitors there. During the tour we will wander through the endless passageways of this enormous castle, climb the turrets and admire the magnificent view of the mountains and valleys around.

We will end the tour with lunch at a restaurant on the top of the mountain.
