Motorbike tours
Motorbike trips in Spain are our special expertise!
At Kokopeli Adventure we design trips of three to ten days along special routes well suited to motorbike riding: winding toads in the mountains and challenging paths. These trips go through Catalunya, the
Pyrenees (both the Spanish and the French sides) as well as the Basque country, Asturias and “Picos de Europa” They include staying at country hotels, meals of the best local delicacies, visits to interesting sites, and above all the breathtaking views.

Riding in the Pyrenees
Our aim is to bring our riders to places well off the beaten track, where the average tourist will never come, and to ensure that the whole becomes an unforgettable personal experience. It is for this reason that we structure the tours in accordance with the client’s wishes and preferences.
We see to hiring the bikes and all the necessary equipment needed on the way (all personal equipment and baggage can go in the accompanying van which follows behind the bikes).
It is of course possible to combine other activities along the route, such as horseback riding or trekking, 4×4 tours etc.
Following is an example of a week-long biking trip:
Day one:
You leave Barcelona on bikes, with accompanying van, and ride to the Costa Brava on winding roads along the cliffs above the coast. A visit to Besalu - a medieval village. It is possible to visit a Jewish ritual bath which was excavated in recent years and is said to be one of the oldest in Europe. Next you ride through winding mountain roads which don’t appear on any map, to the village close to Camprodon. We wander around the village, and proceed to a lovely renovated ancient farm house where we will dine and spend the night. This village is in a remote mountainous area which forms the beginning of the Pyrenees.
Day two:
You will start out towards the town of La Seu de Urgell and from there on to Andorra for a few hours (shopping; yes shopping!)/ From Andorra you will go on to the village of Espot . This is a day with a lot of riding on winding mountain roads. Time permitting, you can ride along a challenging narrow way overhanging an abyss to the isolated hamlets in the area. We will spend the night at a hotel close to the Aiguastortes national park.

Els Encantats mountain (2.747 m)
Day Three:
We will start the day with a visit to the Aiguastortes national park, This is one of the most beautiful parks in the Pyrenees, and we will walk there and go up in 4×4 vehicles to the height of about 2000 meters to see lagoons and glaciers before returning to Aiguastortes national park. From this point on there will be a difficult ride along twisting mountains roads, passes and many twists and turns! Some of the mountain passes are at the height of over 2000 meters. You will ride through gorgeous scenery at Vall de Arran and from there via the mountain pass to France, to the other side of the Pyrenees. From there you will go up through twisting roads following parts of the “Tour de France”. We will spend the night in one of the towns in the area.
Day Four:
We will set out to see one of the unique natural phenomena of the Pyrenees - The Gavarnie waterfall and glacier. The place itself is of breathtaking beauty, but the route is no less so. Should you want to, and if time permits, we could visit the Bigor summit. (A cable car will take us to the station at the summit at a height of over 2800 meters to see the whole Pyrenees range spread out before us). At the site itself we can either walk to the waterfall/glacier or else ride on horseback or on a donkey, but come what may, the Cirque de Gavarnie must be seen! Next we will go, again on mountain roads, to see the wild waterfalls of the Pont de Espangne and from there down to the planes north of the Pyrenees, to the town of Pau. We will spend the night here and see the old town, the pubs, bars and great restaurants.

The Cirque de Gavarnie
Day five:
At this point there are two options. We might take an easy morning to relax, visit the town - not a bad option, as the town has a great deal to offer, and you may be tired after all the days of riding.
The other option is to make the tour of one of the most amazing mountain roads - a route which takes you over several mountain passes, impressive landscapes and challenging riding ( I have a feeling I know what the choice will be…) No matter what the choice is, around noon we will proceed to the Spanish border on to a small ancient Spanish village where we will spend the night after having enjoyed a meal at a great restaurant.
Day six:
We will set out in the morning to visit the park at Monte Perdido (the lost mouintain). This is another of the famous and extremely beautiful parks in the Pyrenees. After the visit in the park, you will proceed along some winding roads, and some less winding road (not highways, but you will be able to put on a bit of speed) to the Alt urgell. If you wish, and time permits, we will visit the monastery of Sant Joan De La Pena(actually the monastery is only an excuse for the route…) We will spend the night in the Alt urgell area, but where? That is a surprise!
Day seven:
From the Alt urgell you will start out to reach the town of Vic, and from there to the La Garrotxa area on winding roads some of which do not appear on any map and which lead to villages dating to the middle ages. Should you want to, we can take a walk to see the cliffs of La Garrotxa (the abyss) and the Sallent waterfall (highly recommended) . Next we will go the the famous Monserrat mountain, and from there to Barcelona, to return the bikes.
Necessary equipment:
Good walking shoes and suitable attire (the weather in the Pyrenees is very changeable and we have an equal chance of meeting pouring rain, or a heat wave, it is a good idea to be prepared for both. You will not be overburdened as the accompanying van can hold all your spare gear. Do not forget to take out suitable insurance for this type of excursion.
